If God Isn't real, You Can't Blame Him For Your Problems

I actually like articles like these, not for their alleged information, but for their "nail in the coffin" idea that this proves the non-existence of god.
Proving religion or religious texts wrong does not prove the non-existence of God.  
God can still exist outside the pages of a book, and at best it just "proves" God is a jerk.... ;p
If you wanted to disprove the existence of vampires, would you poke holes in the plot of Twilight novels?
If you wanted to show that ghosts are not real, would you use arguments that the The Ghost and Mrs. Muir was a movie with actors and special effects?
Arguments like these also ignore certain factors: an afterlife, the changing understanding over time, and God sometimes leaving us to our own devices.
The other factors it ignores is this: if there is no God, then the only people to blame for these acts are people.  Referring back to a book is taking the heat off of ourselves.
If there is no god, then god didn't kill anyone.
But neither did religion....and for this I cite the Gombe War observed by Jane Goodall:
The various tribes (the Kasakela and the Kahama) had no known form of religion, had complex social structures, were able to make tools, were able to observe changes in their environment.  They also raped, stole, tortured, committed infanticide, as well as other various "evils".
So it appears to me that religion has never been the problem.
Religion is at worst the sniffles, a possible symptom of a greater problem.  Getting rid of the sniffles does not mean you are cured.  Actually, hiding the symptoms may make things worse, and hide a greater root of problems.
